Its 18 elements in 11 groups design makes use of one High Refractive Index and three Aspherical elements to control spherical aberrations and for improved sharpness throughout the aperture range. Three Extra-low Dispersion elements reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations. Ultra Multi-Coating is utilized on all lens surfaces to minimize ghosting while also increasing contrast and color accuracy.

Its features include an ergonomically shaped aluminum alloy housing with integrated hood, a precise and silky-smooth manual focus control, full use of Canon’s exposure control modes, and EXIF info is registered.
