I started making my own spice mixes, dry rubs and seasonings. These turn out awesome without all the preservatives and additives in store bought mixes. What I couldn't keep track of was all of my bulk spices, salts and peppers. My living space is small... my spice hoard is large. I had spices scattered in multiple cupboards and never could find what I was looking for. I had purchased some chili pepper in a mylar bag and really liked how it flattened out and was easier to store. So I took to Amazon and Walmart dot com to try to find some mylar bags to try for storage. After looking at what seems like hundreds of different sizes, thicknesses, quantities, and sellers, I settled on this one sold on the Walmart platform. ZERO regrets!!!! These are absolutely perfect for my needs! I was able to put most of each type of spice or herb in a bag. Some things (like Redmond's mineral salt), I had to use several bags and they're a little chunky. No biggy. I have all of my spices neatly contained in two drawers now. I used easy-peel address labels to put what's in each bag, but you could easily just use a sharpie marker. These are thicker than I've seen other spices come in, so I have no worries about the moisture coming in or the odors leaching out. I haven't sealed any of them yet as I'm still getting things organized. On my multiples, I will use my flat iron (hair straightener) to seal them. These have the bottoms you can flare out to make them stand on their own. This made filling them so much easier. I used a funnel on what I could. Most things I buy come in plastic bags or hard plastic containers from an Amish store. Once I had my spice in the bag, I pushed out the air I could with my hand and closed the pouch (zip-lock style). It was easy to shake the spices toward the top so the pouch would lay flat. I am required to state I am a Walmart Associate in order to leave a review. I will spend the next snowy day filling and organizing the remainder of my loose spices and herbs. I highly recommend these if you're after a thicker mylar bag that's about the size of a postcard. Bonus that you get the oxygen absorbers, too!
