GOOD VALUE but be aware of some points before buy

The one thing that you have to plan for is that the three pieces do not connect. I emailed seller to ask about connection before buying, because there was no info on the description, was told there was no info available. Okay. When I got it, it was clear that the three pieces could sit close together but if you wanted to lie on it to watch a DVD or sleep, it would slide apart. So I am going to connect the three pieces underneath with strong baling wire so it stays together. You will also want a regular set of Allen wrenches to use, rather than the ones supplied, which are of a softer metal. Most of the holes are drilled to match, some are routered so the screws will sink in. There are a few small random holes also. But the long screws are not drilled very far and you are winching them in with the Allen wrench, and if you are using theirs, after a while on two sections (new Allen wrench with each section in the bag of screws), the corners of the Allen wrench will become rounded from the continual pressure and will not grip to turn the screws. There are no directions as to what piece to connect first, just pictures of the parts and cross section of the finished sofa, so you should have done some furniture assembly before. That said, the wood is beautiful--a few scratches that I can fix with Old English oil, the holes match up generally very well, and for the price for a wooden sofa, I think it was worth it. I did this by myself, don't think there is a role for a second person. Some of the screws are tedious to connect as there is little turning room between the slats so you are doing quarter-turns over and over with the Allen wrench. Cushions are very flat, I would say less than 2". I have not laid on this for a long time as a sofa yet, but I measured it to take 24 x 24 cushions with a little extra space and if the cushions prove to be too hard to use when sleeping on this regularly (which I expect), then I will just get a set of Walmart's replacement cushions to use with it. Or again, the cushions appear to be very dense foam, and may not compress further and therefore will work for a sofa that one sleeps on. It does sit very low, much lower than it appears in the picture (and again, there were no measurements with the online description)--about eleven inches to the floor. Where it is glued, it is well glued and matches up perfectly--the Vietnamese workmen did a good job. I am going to superglue on each of the three pieces where there is one leg that is just connected under the frame, that is not a longer piece that first forms part of the backrest frame--that is the one place where I detect a wobble. Again, for the price (roughly $300), I think it is worth it and will serve. But I do wish there was a way to connect the pieces permanently into a sofa without having to use wire or another type of connector. I am being this detailed so that someone else might have information that I wished had been included in the online description.
