Built fairly heavy, and works well. Mounted on my porch, and I have crushed perhaps 100 cans so far. I have a large backlog of uncrushed cans to go through! Holds up nicely so far. I have used a much older version of this, which was built very heavily and stood up to years of service. Its easy to use, as long as you start out with a quick movement of the handle to sort of hit the top of the can. Once the can starts to collapse, the pressure required goes way down. If you close the handle down onto the can, significant pressure is required! Start with the handle high and come down onto the can in one quick motion, it will work very well. I did have two cans jump out of the device, directly into me! I think these were already partially massed in on a side, and that side collapsed first, giving a sideways pressure. Not usually an issue.
