Definitely has fumes so open a couple windows. I used it on four pairs of my daughter's shoes. Two coats for each pair of shoes. It does actually work. I would buy two cans if you're not sure or if you're in a work environment but if it's just to play in the water at school or recess or whatever a can will work. You can't notice it's there after it dries. Whether you spray close or far away is still works just as well. Protects from water dries in a 30 minutes if you put a fan on it. Easy to use and apply.
