Perfect Option for Supportive, Decorative Platform

My how things have changed in the world of mattresses, box springs and bed frames! When I was a child, I recall having a box spring and a mattress which sat upon a metal frame with edges so sharp, they were literally a hazard. When I lived in Mexico, I bought a mattress and was told that I didn't need a box spring because the mattress had all the support I needed, so, I purchased a platform bed made of wood. The single-piece platform was completely rigid, and when I wanted to give it to my neighbor, it was very difficult to move! Fast forward to setting up the guest room in our home here, the mattress rested upon a metal frame, and while the metal inside the frame provided a bit of “spring”, I never felt it could provide the support that wood slats would provide. My husband also says that when metal deforms, it cannot return to its original state. Also, aesthetically, the metal frame was an eye-sore with its skinny square legs! Further, the metal frame had tons of legs. I guess what it lacked in support it made up for in legs, but this made it difficult to store anything under the bed. No more sharp edges. No more rigid, single-piece platforms, or platforms with 75 pieces to assemble. And no more metal springs that deform and reduce overall support. The Perfect Solution I think this DeCoro Devon Wood Slat and Metal Platform Bed Frame provides the perfect solution to satisfy our needs. Aesthetically, the platform bed frame looks very attractive. Those legs look like mahogany wood from a distance, and even up close, they are quite nice. They aren't skinny legs, but they look strong and sturdy! The frame itself took about 20 minutes to assemble, after which you place the wooden slats on top. The slats are connected by an interlacing velcro-type ribbon that keeps them from separating as you move during the night. In terms of support, I feel that this bed-frame with the flexible wooden slats provides superior support compared to inflexible wood slats or “springy” thin metal supports. A Platform is Always Necessary; DeCoro is the Perfect Option Here's the thing: If you like a really high bed, then add a box spring to your mattress. I always thought that it was a given that you purchased a box spring with the mattress, but apparently this is old news. The manager at one of the large mattress retailers recently told me that a box spring is not necessary for support – they add height to the bed. Also, he added that the mattress you purchase truly has all the support you need (I guess they were right in Mexico!). So, unless you want your mattress (or mattress set) on the floor, you will always need some sort of frame or platform, which can add to the overall support and the aesthetics of your bed. This platform bed from DeCoro is the perfect supportive and decorative option, whether you opt in or out of the box spring.

Excellent Queen Size Bed Frame

What I appreciate most about the DeCoro Devon Wood Slat Metal bed frame, is the legs. I have and have had, several metal bed frames over time and I like this one the best due to the wood legs. The issue I generally have with metal bed frames is the metal legs. It is not comforting at all to bump into a metal bed frame leg with my foot/toes/legs. I have in the past purchased foam and wrapped metal bed frame legs to aid in preventing pain when bumping them. I don't have a problem with the legs on the DeCoro Devon bed frame since they are wood. So not only is it wonderful NOT to be scraping feet/toes/legs on metal, the appearance is great too. The wood legs is so much more attractive than the ole standard black metal bed frame legs. Assembly is very easy and did not take but minutes to put it together. The bed frame seems to be great quality and it is very sturdy. It can be used with or without a box spring. Most any type of mattress will do as long as you get the correct size of course (example: queen). There is a good amount of space under the frame and I like that since I tend to store items under my beds. The frame is 14 inches tall. Overall, very nice, looks good, comfortable, excellent frame and easy assembly.

Bed Frame

This was a queen size bed frame which was shipped to my home in one box. Although the box was damaged, the bed was not. Be aware that this weighs a tad over 100 pounds and is unwieldy to move through the house. I opted to open it and moved individual pieces to the bedroom for assembly. There are 4 posts of wood, 2 sets of wooden slats, 2 metal side rails, 1 middle rail and 1 metal middle post for the bed proper. Additionally, there are metal rails for both the head and foot board. All metal rails are heavy duty rectangular tubes. All of the screws are hex head, and I recommend using a drill or manual screw driver with hex head bit over the included allen-head wrench. The directions are easy to follow and take about 30 to 45 minutes to put together the bed. This is very heavy duty and appears it will last for a many years. A nice touch is the slats are strung together with nylon strapping with a velcro surface which mates with a velcro tape on the bed rails. I would recommend this item.
