In this installment of Wingspan, we welcome new species to our habitats by exploring the vibrant, intriguing, and magnificent birds of Asia. These birds were chosen from the over 2,800 species that live in Asia. Wingspan Asia is several different things: A stand-alone game for 1 player or 2 players (Duet mode that can be used with any bird/bonus cards), a card expansion to the original Wingspan (any bird/bonus cards across any Wingspan game or expansion can be combined), and a 6-7 player expansion via the new Flock mode (for which the player components from the core game are necessary). - BUILD YOUR ENGINE: Gain food tokens via custom dice in a birdfeeder dice tower, lay eggs using egg miniatures in a variety of colors, draw from 170 unique bird cards and play them. Each bird extends a chain of powerful combinations in one of your habitats. Earn points, play new birds, help others, and many other abilities!
- THOUGHTFULLY DESIGNED BIRD CARDS: Every element of the bird used on each card is tied to the theme and mechanisms of the cards: the type of nest and number of eggs that nest holds, the size of the birds and many of their abilities, the type of food that is needed to attract said bird, and where that bird will come to rest on your playmat.
- THEMATICALLY DESIGNED MECHANISMS: Most bird cards have an ability that benefits you during the game. Many of these abilities tie into the nature of the bird represented on the card. For example, the parasitic nature of some birds is used in the game by the card not allowing eggs to be placed on it but giving you the ability to place eggs in other birds’ nests, just like these birds use the nests of other birds in real life. Some bird powers allow you to tuck cards underneath them, like a raptor eating another smaller bird.
- SOLO MODE: Play this standalone game as a solitaire experience, either with the included Duet map or with the original game's solo components. Features an Automa to play against in a single player game for a fun solitaire experience. The Automa simulates an opponent for you to compete against, while your game as a player remains the same. On the Automa’s turn, flip a card to see what action it takes.
- DUET OR FLOCK MODE: Compete head-to-head against your favorite bird enthusiast opponent over map-based goals, in this standalone version playing in duet mode. Great two player game for couples, friends, and family. Add this as an expansion to your base game of Wingspan for flock mode, and play with 6-7 people in a special version to keep the game play quick.
- CHARITY DONATIONS: For every preorder launch notification request we received for Wingspan Asia on our website, Stonemaier Games donated $1 to charitable organizations that benefit birds in Asia. We split the donation total of $13,130 equally among BirdLife International, Animals Asia, Flight, and the International Crane Foundation.

Good as an extension
While I wouldn't purchase this as the base game since it comes with less than the actual base game, as an extension we love it because it adds a lot of new birds with different abilities to mix in with our base game. Since it works better as an extension I would say the price should be a bit lower but overall we are happy with it.

We are huge fans of wingspan. I love that you can play 7 people on this game. The cards, eggs, and player boards are the same excellent quality you expect. My family loves this game. You can play it with the other wingspan editions or on its own!
