My cat loves it, but lead-like smell

I love the fact that my cat plays a lot with this toy...fun, perfect size,...but not sure about its safety since I noticed lead-like cheap scent the toy has. (Especially when my cat carries this around the house) My cat will play with this one but I won't buy another one due to questionable safety issue.
