Many of the traditional pieces and anonymous compositions are still familiar to audiences today, such as "Greensleeves." Of those attributed to a composer, the compositions of John Dowland are of particular note. Even when the music is upbeat, the lyrics still tear at the heart. "Sorrow Stay" is especially poignant.

Countertenor Daniel Taylor and lutenist Sylvain Bergeron create elegantly simple renditions of these classic tunes. Taylor's voice resonates with an almost church-like clarity. The simple compositions have an undeniable, stark beauty that will be enjoyed by all.
