I worried about buying a memory foam mattress just based on reviews. I think I read myself blind. I love my old queen size memory foam mattress but the brand isn’t available anymore. I was looking to upgrade from a queen size to a king and for a medium firmness level mattress. After reading so many reviews about medium firmness mattresses that were either too soft or too hard, I decided to take a chance on this Idle Haven mattress. I know a gel memory foam mattress will have a different feel, real possibility of this being too firm, having no support at the edges, or edges might not inflate. Well, I ordered the mattress and just like everyone said, delivery was fast! The box was pretty beat up and the tape at the top of the box didn’t hold up very well it was already open. The vacuum seal was intact and in good condition. Unwrapped and opened the seal, the mattress inflated right away and the edges did take a couple of days to firm up. We waited the full 72 hours. Edges aren’t perfect but did firm up and fill out. It is a true 14 inch mattress.!This is a medium firm mattress but with the gel memory foam, it conforms to your body but also supports your spine and back so it is a lot firmer than a normal medium firmness. My body does sink into it a little but I do feel the back and spine support. I’ve slept directly on a dense foam mattress before and you don’t know firm until you’ve slept on a dense foam that is just like sleeping on a ceramic tile floor. My husband loves this gel memory foam Haven mattress but it did take me a couple of days to get used to it. I am an edge sleeper and toss and turn a lot but this mattress does have edge support. I don’t regret buying it and it is a good mattress for the price. Just be aware that this gel foam mattress is firmer than the usual medium memory foam mattress.
