You can set the scale unit button on the back to weigh everything from pounds to even liquid measures. I like the fact that it uses two AAA batteries instead of the flat round batteries like my old one. I am using two Re-chargeable AAA batteries so I will never be without even if you forget to turn it off. It also has a 2 min. auto shutoff.
