Sweet,Funny,Serious and Sad.....

This has always been one of my favorite movies based upon the life of an incomparable singer who's time --as we know-was way too short. Patsy Cline had a miraculous voice that I was fortunate to hear ( on records) at the age of 10. My childhood friend and neighbor was named Patsy after Patsy Cline. Patsy's mom had every album and/or single recorded in the years Patsy Cline was becoming a singular superstar and tragically became one (a superstar) after her death. So,despite Mrs. G. indulging us with our sugary pop songs- I got a REAL education about just how special and strong(vocal range) an artist can sound.I cherish those songs and memories. I watched this movie (again!) - and again- it doesn't turn green with age or corny in time. The actors are superstars themselves---well known for many, many fine performances. Jessica Lange is what I imagined Patsy Cline to be--what I read about her. A tall curvy brunette with a husky voice, an unforgettable laugh and a persistent presence no matter (the) delays or set backs. Ed Harris is great as the handsomely charming and sometimes vicious Charlie Dick--John Goodman proves himself as someone other (than) 'Mr.Conner' on re-runs--he keeps doing this! Ann Wedgworth is one of the best known, hardly known actresses EVER! Whether she's playing Patsy's sensibly pretty mother or the giddy Aunt Fern in Steel Magnolias SHE is ALWAYS worth watching --large role or no.I recognize some musicians/actors in the 'Cracker Band' as members of The Kentucky Headhunter's so that's fun--people can actually PLAY instruments! The sets and scenery look and apparently are authentic and everything about this movie puts me back in a time I can't remember until the 1960's but can understand through this classic script, soundtrack and believable story of the amazing and ONLY Patsy Cline.Thanks.
