These are plastic backed. Extremely absorbent they can handle multiple normal wettings or about two large gotta go now type wettings. At least for me they can and Im a 250 lb grown man. The tapes have little blue pre-tapes on them so refastening is possible at least a few times before the tapes loose their hold. The padding is soft and extends far up the front and back and is generously wide between the legs. They run a bit larger than other brands medium. Plenty of room in them for adding a booster if you need to last the whole day without change. All that being said they are a bit bulky and cumbersome if your trying to do some sort of physically strenuous activity. But great for night time, long car or plane journeys, movie marathons, concerts, or any other form of bladder busting situations. If you need something equally as absorbent but a bit trimmer and quieter try out the Medline extended wear briefs. Very similar but with cloth like outer and Velcro closures.
