Cleveland-based cinematic pop band, THE MODERN ELECTRIC, are releasing their first single since their self-titled debut was voted quot;Best Album of 2011quot; in the Scene Magazine. Cinematic, orchestral, and urgent quot; All We Have Is Nowquot; responds to the ever-looming threat of world's end. Though apocalyptic in it's ambition, the song's message remains intimate. A celestial chorus worthy of OK Computer repeats: quot;Every beat... beat of your heart is one less I've gotquot; before crashing into heart-racing, tympani-driven verses. The Modern Electric is a band of four Cleveland suburbanites in search of a cinematic life. Their music feels like a soundtrack or mixtape that has been tenderly constructed for a crush or a close friend. It is nostalgic, romantic, and saturated in beautiful pop melodies. Not only do they draw influences from artists like Spoon, T. Rex and Arcade Fire; they find escape from suburban heartache in films like Annie Hall, Garden State and The Graduate. The heavy, dreamlike feelings that immediately follow a powerful cinematic experience are what compel them to write songs to the ones they love. Whether it's the passion in the pounding piano or the affection in the soulful vocals, The Modern Electric live experience is completely driven by emotion. They've performed at CMJ Music Marathon's Mercury Lounge (2012), Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2011), and Cleveland's Tower City Amphitheater (2009) with bands like Rogue Wave, Fitz and the Tantrums, and Sloan. They are currently recording their heart-felt sophomore release-a full length album introducing the genre cinematic soul. With every song and every performance, The Modern Electric and their audience share in the search for a life that's just like in the movies.
