A History of Violence

This isn't your typical film based on a publication from a company known for comic books. Don't let that stop you from trying this movie. It has star power, excellent production and an engaging, powerful story on the nature of violence, and on honesty, and on character. Viggo Mortensen never gives a bad performance and he has a great supporting cast to back him up this time. The picture has some of Maria Bello's finest on-screen work. Ed Harris is great and William Hurt was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance. The story leaves the viewer wanting to watch it again. This could easily have been adapted into a miniseries. Recommended if you like: Eastern Promises, The Sopranos, Unforgiven.
