The Virgin Of Juarez

While on assignment, Los Angeles based reporter Karina Danes (Minnie Driver) meets Mariela (Ana Claudia Talancan), a rare survivor of one of the vicious attacks taking place in the border town of Cuidad Juarez. During her recovery, Mariela sees visions of the Virgin Mary and experiences the phenomenon of stigmata. Mariela and her story soon draw a devout following, and her sermons galvanize a public in need of hope. Based on the ongoing unsolved murders in Cuidad Juarez, The Virgin of Juarez connects issues of politics, fanaticism and religion with murder and violence in Mexico and East L.A.
