The Whole Truth Wills Out

Shaw is an operative of a secret international organization dedicated to keeping the world safe and secure. He travels the globe from hotspot to hotspot as a successful and dedicated agent dealing with terrorists and the worst elements of society to neutralize their threats to global harmony. But all is not straightforward with Shaw and his employer. He had joined the organization years ago as a hedge against prison for unspecified deeds. He is now reaching the point of burnout and wants to have his overseer fulfill his promise to let him go his own way as the term of this obligation nears. One of his reasons for wanting out is that he has met the love of his life and wants to be with her. This manager that controls Shaw's assignments is totally unsympathetic to Shaw's wishes and keeps pushing him into danger. Danger lurks on the horizon in the person of a man who is the biggest arms dealer in the world, indiscriminately selling his lethal wares to any side in a conflict. In order to keep up his sales, he secures the services of an unscrupulous but very successful manipulator of public opinion whose company works in the shadows but has influence world wide. This mastermind can create the conditions for wars while deflecting any suspicion from his sinister public relations firm. It is inevitable that Shaw and these egocentric players on the world stage come into conflict, but not before unspeakable tragedy, both personal and political, as well as threats to diplomatic cooperation ensue. Once again David Baldacci brings together disparate and surprising elements in an immersive and captivating narrative populated with convincing characters that the reader cares about and situations that keep the reader guessing and wanting more.
