Trouble with sterno's

We tried these green sterno for fondue pots and it didnt keep the oil hot. I was so disappoonted because we do foundue every Christmas eve. We never had trouble wiyh the old style sternos but I cant find those any longer. Does anyone know what the problem is with these?
