I bought this to replace a RainSoft system that was in the house when we arrived. I was able to replace their entire system with a better, non-proprietary system PLUS a 14 gallon holding tank for roughly what 2 sets of replacement filters and membranes would have cost me there. System worked perfectly from the start and was easy to hook up.

So before installing the APEC 90, I had also installed a Tyent Ionizing unit. That worked great, but it didn't filter out the salt that I have to add to soften my water. I have hard water in my area and a water softener is a must for my pipes. So the only way to take the salt out was to install an R/O system. I had been eyeing the APEC system for some time, so I finally decided to purchase the unit to solve my salt problem. Installation was a snap since I had already tapped into my cold water line. The only small issue I had was that I had not tightened the filters on tight enough so they initially leaked. After the initial filtering cycle, I tested the water and no salty taste in the water! I probably have some of the purest water (7 stages of filtration) in the neighborhood!
