AprilAire introduced the first evaporative humidifier for forced air furnace systems back in 1954. Since that time, AprilAire continues to lead the industry in whole home humidification systems. Our evaporative humidifiers work by piping water into the distribution tray located at the top of the humidifier. The water is uniformly distributed across the width of the tray and through a scientifically designed system of outlets. It flows by gravity over the Water Panel evaporator. Dry, hot air from the HVAC system is moved through the moisture-laden Water Panel evaporator. Natural evaporation takes place, the water is turned to vapor, and the humidified air is circulated throughout your home.

Works Great!
I bought this to replace an old humidifier of the same type, but different brand, so I already had the duct connection to the return duct. Please note that this is not included with the humidifier. Also, I didn't have a convenient path to install the outside temperature sensor, so I'm running it in “manual” mode. I only mention this because I probably could have saved a little money by buying the “manual” unit instead of the “automatic” unit. The wiring can be a bit tricky, so you need to be comfortable with control wiring (wiring diagrams are included). Once installed, it operated flawlessly. I do like that the humidistat supplied with the “automatic” unit has a digital readout for the humidity in the supply duct.
