Chrissie Hynde Has Still Got "It"!

Chrissie Hynde has done it again. Although the Pretender's line up has changed dramatically over the past 30 years, Chrissie has been the anchor to this bands success. There is no doubt her melodies and signature vocals are the backbone to every Pretenders song and both are unmistakenly identifiable. Whether it be early, raw punk, midlife inspired ballads or now, as in Break Up The Concrete, a strong rock-a-billy feel, Ms. Hynde has still got it. Whether you're a long time Pretenders fan or just discovering how emotionally moving genuine, straight ahead Rock-N-Roll really is, buy this album. You won't be disappointed.

Hynde Country

After taking up reggae influences on 'Loose Screw,' it only makes sense that Hynde and Company bring it all back home with some hybrid country-rock cookin'. Certainly more progressive than most country, The Pretenders can nimbly draw from the frontwoman's toughness and tenderness with "Boots of Chinese Plastic" and "Rosalee" excelling at the former and "Love's a Mystery" and "The Nothing Maker" mastering the latter. After all these years, a new line-up only pays Chrissie Hynde apt service with skillfull musicianship and able back-up vocals.
