Purina ONE Sensitive Stomach, Sensitive Skin, Natural Dry Cat Food, +Plus Sensitive Skin and Stomach Formula, 7 lb. Bag

We have a 13 yr old flame point Siamese that started having problems keeping his food down and excessive skin biting(he's on Revolution so no fleas). He was diagnosed with IBS or possible food allergy (not sure). Spent $1200 for a vet visit to find out he's otherwise a very healthy guy. Vet put him on a RX HP (hydrolyzed protein) hard food by royal canin (we also had another brand rx HP sample to try but my cat would not touch it). He's also put him on rx gabapentin. The rx HP food is expensive and there was still vomiting after a 3 month trial. He also was still biting his fur excessively. I read the HP food can make them itch which is the opposite of what I was trying to help him with. I read some good reviews and thought I didn't have much to lose by trying this Purina Turkey sensitive skin/stomach food. I transitioned him off the RX food over 14 days and so glad I tried the Purina. Vomiting is down by 75% and skin itching is improved by 50%. Not perfect but better than the rx HP food. I do try to get my old guy to eat every couple of hours when I'm home. I find if he waits more than 4 hours to eat his stomach acid will cause him to vomit small hairballs that he could normally pass in the cat box. I also think he may forget to eat sometimes. I keep food bowls near his napping spots to help him remember to eat. He is still on the rx gabapentin but I think this new Purina food is so much better for his IBS and skin biting. He likes the Purina turkey flavor, too. The food pieces are not too big and he seems to chew them fine. I hope another cat family can benefit from our experience because it can be stressful trying to figure out these senior cats and what they can eat. I'm still glad we went to the vet to make sure he was ok but am thankful to other cat parents who gave their reviews and experience with this food for their older sensitive cats. It helped me figure out what could possibly work when the vet RX food was not improving my cats symptoms.

Great cat food. All 5 of our babies love it and I have a couple of picky eaters!! Also recommended by our vet as meat is first ingredient (I can't remember if chicken or turkey)!! Our cats also are said to be very healthy when they go for yearly check up/shots at the vet. They range in age from 5-12years old!! Great value for the money!!
