Strongly Recommend - GREAT BOOK

When bought How to Draw Objects and Environments from Your Imagination, I thought it would be a way to refresh my skills from art school. I could not have been more mistaken. This book is an invaluable guide for any artist or illustrator to sharpen, refine and expand their skill-set. It is also a great guide for anyone who wants to learn how to draw cars and planes (much like I did in my youth). Drawing environments came later for me and this book does an excellent job of showing how to do that - giving visual examples along with well-written, clear instructions. The entire book is like this. The book has 10 chapters: (in-order) Drawing Materials and Skills Perspective Terminology Perspective Drawing Techniques Creating Grids Ellipses and Rotations Working with Volume Drawing Environments Drawing Aircraft Drawing Wheeled Vehicles Sketching Styles and Mediums First Chapter aside, each and every chapter has taught me something new that I wasn't aware of. As an Engineer, I thought I had Perspective and Grids down-pat. I was pleasantly surprised to discover more techniques that will strengthen my drawing skills. This book is the equivalent of a college course or two, maybe even 3 or more. The layout is a HUGE plus. How many times have you looked thru the pages of an art-book and the text and images are poorly arranged (text with the accompanying images on another page, thumb-nailed sized, etc.)? There is another GREAT added plus for this book. There are accompanying videos that walk you through the various techniques discussed. There is too much about this book to discuss in the amount of space given, but if you are on-the-fence or considering buying it, you should. How to Draw Objects and Environments from Your Imagination is a great addition to your library.

Tough, but worth it.

No, it isn't for beginners. It's a tough slog but it is worth it. Highly recommend some background in perspective before tackling this monster!
