It does work. Read this for some info.

A few helpful things to know: 1. You can record about 30 seconds of audio. 2. To record: partially pull out side tab (about 1/2"), press and hold the black button, you should soon hear the word "drop" and start recording. Then, let go of the button after you are done. It should then play your recording. Push tab back in to conserve battery. 3. To play: partially pull out side tab about 1/2". It should automatically start playing. Afterwards, push tab back in to conserve battery.
