In a small apartment, My Ethernet RJ-45 jack is right behind a piece of furniture. Install this 90 degree adapter gives my ethernet cable protection from movement of the furnitue. Rather than extending almost 3 inches out, the 90 degree adapter allows the cable to run vertical, not horizontal. No harm, potentially or accidently.
