chipped easy

Received this as a Xmas gift. I read instructions to wash in soapy water. I did, and during the wash the bottom of the pan hit the bottom on my stainless steel sink and chipped. I couldn't believe it. It wasn't even a hard hit. I reached out to Gibson, sent an email with photo's as requested by them. Waiting to hear back from them. I wanted this pot, thought it was the right size and loved the color, but now I wonder how well is it made if it's going to chip so easily. I never got to use it.
