Great choice for an intermediate drum.

Good bass tone for the money/size. Bright snare/slap compared to some other "bass" cajons. I'm torn on the shape/design. You have no access to the snares due to the construction/design, so there is no way to adjust or repair them without removing the front. (which is partially glued in place). I like the slightly more compact design of the rounded back, but it is thick plywood, so it doesn't resonate as well as it could. That being said, I can't complain about the quality of the back. It appears to be true plywood rather than laminated pressboard/MDF. Overall, I'd say this is a big plus as MDF doesn't resonate well or hold up long term under regular use.
