the ring is sterling silver. the stone is a thin slice of diamond with some sort of adhesive to keep the thin sliced stone in place. The stone lost its luster becauae when i washed my hands and when i cleaned the ring the liquid remained between the stone and adhesive. the stone collapsed because the stone is a very thin slice. when i first received the ring i was very pleased. i immediately put it on. at the end of the day i noticed the stone was not as shiny and cleaned it in a mild jewelry cleaner. the stone collapsed when i was drying it. I returned it and bought another ring and the stone on this ring collapsed too! I ended up buying this ring 4 times and ended stuck with one because i didn't return it in time.
