The directions are to scuff the seeds and hot water soak. I didn't do either and after 3 days first one sprouted and 4 days 3 more. Waiting for the rest. 12” tall ones are $30 plus tax at HD. These things grow like weeds, have the Mexican variety spilling into our yard thanks to neighbor and they are invasive. Prefer the red to mostly yellow and a little red. Only need less than a cup of water every week during growing season, which is pretty impressive with temperatures above 100 degrees.

unfortunately out of ten seeds I only got two plants. 7 didn't germinate, one got dug up by something(possum or armadillo) and two are still growing. Planted late spring might not see the red leaves until late fall, or next spring
