Remarkable

I'm an AFOL who has never watched a single episode of Ninjago but was drawn to this set due to the Cyberpunk asthetic. It's an absolutely phenomenal build for so many reasons. The build is a lot more varied and colorful than many of the modulars and incorporates a ton of fun and complex play functions. Lots of unique shapes and structures makes it a more interesting build. Being a LEGO owned property keeps it from having a licensing “tax” and makes is a great value for the money. It's a lot more customizable than many of the sets more geared towards adults meaning you'll continue to have fun building onto it weeks after you complete the main build. I had a ton of fun upgrading and “bulking up” the mech that comes with it. Speaking of which- it's a really cool concept that you build parts of the mech into the set as you go that you can add on at the end. Just all around really happy with this set. Wishing I'd discovered how great this line is before so many of them have retired. But now eying that City Markets set!

Perfect Cyberpunk City

Compared to City Markets, this better captures the cyberpunk city. Way less grey concrete pavement. More sticker decaling, giving it a more futuristic look. More levels. Better contrast in colors. The model kit shop is a good callback for people into the Japanese plamo scene. The ramen shop is a great callback to those who watched Naruto. Plus the Akira reference. Compared to other Icons sets, this is an insanely good value. Lower price point, and this is very easy to turn and see other sides, vs markets. You cannot go wrong with this. Even if you don't own the prior Ninjago City, it has an extremely desired Harumi figure, as well as more important characters from Dragons Rising Season 1. Definitely get this before it retires. Lots of stickers so make sure you take measurements before application.

An Excellent Addition to the City

Love it! It fits perfectly on the left side of the markets set with the garden on the other side of it. Any one of these Ninjago City sets could be a city in itself. As always a diverse and generous amount of mini figures are included. This set receives an “A” from the Brick Professor.
