The pole is THIN stainless steel and comes in sections. I had the flag tethered to keep it from blowing unto a corner of the house gutter. (Caused my last flag to tear apart.) Unfortunately, we had a very strong wind one day, causing the flag to act as a sail. The THIN pole couldn't take the force of the wind and bent at one of the joints. I was able to salvage the fittings and am using a piece of 1/2 inch electrical conduit as a flagpole.
