What we screen for

Blood pressure
Blood pressure is the pressure of blood vessels pushing against the walls of the arteries as they move through those arteries to other parts of the body. High blood pressure means that the pressure of the blood vessels against the walls of the arteries is elevated, which can cause both common & severe health risks.
BMI & waist circumference
Body Mass Index (BMI) & waist circumference are screening tools that estimate weight categories & how being in those weight categories may lead to health problems. Body Mass Index (BMI) is a person’s weight in kilograms divided by the square of height in meters. Waist circumference (waist size) takes belly fat into account & helps predict the risk of health problems from being overweight. Losing weight can reduce belly fat & lower those risks.
Glucose
Elevated glucose, or blood sugar, is a symptom of pre-diabetes or uncontrolled diabetes. It doubles the risk of heart attack & may lead to potential complications including blindness, kidney disease & nerve damage.
Cholesterol
LDL, termed “bad” cholesterol, elevates the risk of heart disease & stroke & can result in heart disease or stroke, while HDL or “good” cholesterol helps lower this risk. Elevated total cholesterol may signal a heightened overall cardiovascular disease risk.
Hemoglobin A1c
The A1c test reflects the average blood sugar level over the past two to three months. The higher an A1c level, the greater the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
