Yes, it matters how you install the bike pedals. Each pair is designed for either the right or left side of the bike. If you install them incorrectly, you'll strip the crank arms and pedal threads. Look for an L and R to tell you which pedal goes on which side. If you can't see those letters, then look for how the pedals are threaded. To the right threads go on the right, and to the left threads go on the left.
