What's the difference between wide-ruled, college-ruled, and narrow-ruled notebook paper?
Wide-ruled paper offers more space between horizontal printed lines than college-ruled paper. Students in kindergarten up to grade four find wide-ruled paper easier to write on as they practice their penmanship. College-ruled notebook paper has thinner printed lines, so more information fits on each page. Narrow-ruled paper has thinner lines than college-ruled paper and is sometimes used for taking scientific notes or making to-do lists.
Is a composition notebook or a spiral-bound notebook better for school?
Some teachers prefer composition notebooks for long-term projects. Pages are sewn or glued together in composition books, so individual sheets aren't easy to remove. If you need notebook pages you can tear out for homework assignments, choose a wire-bound notebook, preferably with perforated sheets for easier page removal.
Are legal pads good for studying?
Legal pads are glued at the tops of the pages. The pads are thin and easy to slip into backpacks or laptop bags. It's easy to flip sheets over on legal pads when taking notes for better efficiency. However, it's harder to keep notes organized with only one legal pad for more than one class. Three- or five-subject wire-bound notebooks may be more efficient for keeping multiple class notes.
