With an efficient, all-in-one design, upright vacuums are the most popular vacuum style for most homeowners and professional cleaners. These vacuums work by being pushed along in front of the user and do a great job cleaning wide swathes of carpet or flooring.

Upright vacuum types

Many vacuum users prefer a bagless style, which allows for efficient emptying of vacuum contents. However, this style may not be suitable for those with severe allergies as the bag is actually useful for keeping vacuum contents contained.

These upright vacuums are easy to maneuver and carry up and down stairs but may not be as powerful or efficient.

While some upright vacuums are designed for either carpet or hard flooring, multi-surface models can handle both.
