Can acrylic paint be mixed with water?

Acrylic paint can be mixed with water. Adding 30 percent water to acrylic paint will coat most surfaces. Adding more than 60 percent water will give you a wash that you can use as a background or base. Thinning acrylic paints will cause them to run, so you should work on a flat surface unless you want the effect of a wash.

Are craft acrylics and studio acrylics the same?

Craft acrylics are typically thinner than studio or professional acrylics. Craft acrylics have less pigment density and don't provide as good coverage on some surfaces.
