Great with a few exceptions

This player (so far) is really worth your money. it plays my divx dvds just fine. the only problem is that you cant turn it off in the middle of a divx video and start back at that same point. this can get annoying. other that it works fine and has great features!

This product did not satifsy my needs

This product is limited on the movie file types. I needed help numerous time to figure out how to get movie files to work. There needs to be more flexibility. I think if someone wanted a DVD player with a USB for pictures and music memory stick, this product would work. That was not my need. That is why I can't recommend it. I returned this product and bought a WD live TV hub. Guess that was the type of product I wanted

Top of the line product for the value!

This product is wonderful. You can't beat the value, I have three of these DVD Players and it comes HDMI ready, just plug and play. All my present DVD's are mostly fullscreen. I recently purchased from Wal-Mart a 47" Phillips Flatscreen LCD TV and this product upscales your present movies to 16.9 Widescreen. "What a picture"!!! If you can't afford a Blu-Ray player or you just don't have any Blu-Ray movies, then this is the machine for you.

    Good DVD

its really good dvd player i like the usb slot coz we can play the movie from the usb features. the only thing i really hate is the remote control is not working well. you need to come closer to the player so it will work. other than that the dvd is ok.

Will not play portable hard drive through usb

I purchased this dvd player because another reviewer had stated that it would play a portable external hard drive through the usb. Unless it depends on the size of the drive, I was unable to get any playback of movies, pics, etc that were on it. I was able to play from a flash drive however. It also makes too much noise while playing dvd's.

Was great while it lasted - 9 months

I would have given 5 stars if it would have at least outlasted the warranty period. Packed with nice features for a low-cost unit. (Paid $56 end of june, 2011) I am actually considering buying 2 more at the current price. I guess it depends on How Philips handles the warranty. The front USB feature would be nice if it were duplicated on the rear of the unit. You can use a USB hard drive if you format FAT32, however..... there is a limit to how many files, folders and how many levels you can go deep on folders. I have a 1TB drive (max recommended) connected loaded with music and videos and this thing played almost everything I threw at it. Like others have said, it is slow to respond when powering on. As far as fast-forward goes.. 8x is abou...

    Amazing DVD Player

This thing rocks big time. No other company offers these features for this price. This thing up converts to 1080p. But the best thing is when I download movies I don't have to do anything to the file but put it on a usb flash drive. Yep it reads directly from the flash drive port in the front of the machine, so cool. No converting and turning into a DVD. This thing reads avi and divx files, so pretty much anything you place on a flash drive it will play. One more great feature. You can put in an audio CD and a blank flash drive and it will convert the audio files to mp3s and put them on the flash drive. WOW!!! I think I'm gonna get another one for the familyroom. I am thrilled. Anyway I had to tell you about it.

Was looking to replace my Samsung upscaling DVD player that played AVI files. First of all, you cannot beat this price for a player that plays AVI formats and DIVX downloads. Set up is easy, plays right out of the box. I have standard def tv with converter box, but this unit does have HDMI available also. Comes with standard a/v cables only. I preferred my better quality cables. There is no "s video" on the player. Picture and sound are good and there are on screen picture adjustments for your own tastes. Sound can be set for left and right speakers or stereo and there are settings like "movie", "theater" for your own sound preferences. I think " s video" gives better quality when hooking up to standard def. stereo tv. Can't speak for the H...

    Very Slow Clicker Interface

This DVD player works fine. However, it has a very slow clicker interface. When you press the power button on the clicker, sometimes the dvd player responds and sometimes it doesn't. Even when it does respond, it does so slowly. As a result, I would not recommend this dvd player.

    Great Hidden Gem!

Plays everything you throw at it...AVI, DVD, VCD, SVCD, usb stick or external hard drive. It does not recognize MP4 files. This player does not allow skipping chapters with AVI files, rather you have to fast forward or rewind through them. If this bothers you, then buy the samsung model 1080P9. This model has more features though. Personal wallpaper being one that the samsung does not offer. This has a sleep timer too! Great product, cheap and I highly recommend it!

I bought this dvd player mostly because of the USB port. It plays DVD's really good, it being HDMI makes the movies come out really good. When playing a movie from a USB the picture is amazing. Here's the problem, playing a movie from the USB it will only play half the movie or up to an hour and a half. There's nothing wrong with the movie, because it will play the full movie on my laptop and there is nothing wrong with the USB I use because I also tested it out on my laptop. But for some odd reason it will not play a long movie from the USB.

    Product not complete

Once opening the box for this DVD player it was noted that it did not have the audio cable so it could not be used until it was purchased separately. This should be stated in the description as with batteries..sold separately. This type of item should have all attachements with it so that it goes from box to being used.

    Excellent Product

Plays everything including .avi and .jpg files loaded on a USB thumb drive. Tried both file types and pictures are excellent. DIVx files downloaded from the internet are significantly compressed to save space but certainly very viewable. Up-scaling of standard DVD is also very good and finally ride of those stupid black bars. Fills full 16:9 screen. For most people this player will be the only player they will ever need since it up-scales to 1080p for their new HD big screen TV they get this Christmas. I will never buy a Blue Ray player since I get most of my movies over the internet. I purchased this player for the few disks that I still have. Never buy a disks anymore. Lots of different ways to connect this player to almost anything you...

    Worth the wait!

This is my second DVD Player Purchase over the past four years. My last was the Philips DVP3960. It at the time, was the cream of the crop. Low price, high quality, and exceeded all expectations. Recently, I did some surfing and found the new model DVP3560. I saw in addition to the amazing price at Wal Mart (under 40 dollars) this model has a USB port that I have tested and plays every movie I have ever burned right off my 4 gig Flash Drive. NO MORE BURNING MOVIES TO DVD!! Pros: Nice Style. Easy to set up and use. USB PORT! Does a great job of up converting. (Do note that it does make the picture "Blu Ray" quality, but for 40 dollars does an excellent job of trying) Remote is easy to use and now has an "eject button." Cons: Remote is sem...

    Great deal

What you get for the price is excellent. I use this product mainly to play divx movies via a HDMI output and USB input. Having to replace another Phillips player which died after performing the software update (Thanks for not getting back to me Phillips) I was very hesitant about buying another Phillips player, however this is the lowest priced product out there that plays Divx and has an USB input. The first one that arrived was DOA and Walmart took it right back at the store (thank you). Being even more skeptical I ordered the 2nd one online. This one booted right up, took the usb input and started playing a movie that would not function on my old player. The disc load is just as funtional as well. The remote is excellent for the price, i...

    More then worth it..

This is a wonderful player. My family has three. Two of an older model that we are replacing. We have had one for more then 4 years. We play on average 4-6 movies a day, so they get extreme heavy use. Player and remote are easy to use, my 6 year old has no problem using it. Well worth the price, plays every format we can think to put in it. Best DivX out there and a price you can not beat!

    A Few Annoyances

This player is very nice. It will play any file type that I get from the Net. Nice and thin. The remote is great. The USB port is the best. No more burning DVD's on my computer just to watch them on my DVD player. Annoyance: 1) There's no time search function when playing a non-DVD type file. 2) The player won't remain on pause indefinitely, it shuts down, so if you don't finish a movie, the next day you have to zoom forward to where you were [no time search unless it's a DVD format.] 3) if you have several files on a DVD/USB drive, the menu selection will only let you scroll down to say the 24th file, you can't just scroll up from file 1 and have it loop around to file 24.

    Phillips Quality

I am a fan of Phillips products (others have fallen short). I ordered 2 of these but the disc door on one would not open. Wal-Mart refunded the money for that one without any hassles. I wiill be ordering another soon to replace that. For the money I paid for these they were a great bargain and the quality of the Phillips name makes it a fantastic bargain. I bought one for the kids standard def TV and the second for my bedroom HDTV because these players come with 1080p Upscaling. The one I kept is on the kids TV now and is performing great. I would have liked for a few more command options to have been on the player itself but they are adequate so long as you do not loose the remote control which has all of the player's commands on it. 2 thu...

I had purchased a dvd movie set that was for region 2. Not knowing about the regions, I didn't think anything of it. Needless to say, the set did not work in my current dvd player. It simply said "wrong region" I was given a hack site for making the player region free, however my dvd player didn't have a hack. I googled region free dvd players and found this one among many, after receiving the player you have to go into the programming and enter a code. It took me about 2-3 minutes. I am now able to view the set I bought!

High Definition performance at value Price.

I recently purchased the Philips DVD primarily for it's Upconversion capability to bring my DVD collection up to High Definition viewing. It is attached to a Philips 42" LCD 1080p television. Set up was easy, connect with HDMI cable, up and running. I have only had this a month, so far so good. Major improvement in Picture clarity & provides almost Movie Theater Sound. At this point very pleased with the quality.

Play cheap CD's with tv or movies

Phillips is the only company that I know of that makes dvd players that will play cheap cd's that I have copied tv shows and movies onto. You can put three or four movies on a single cd without the headaches of reformatting them, put it in the player and it has the titles you name each one listed. Just scroll down to the one you want to watch, hit play and its there in beautiful color and sound. This is the second Phillips DVD Player in the house. When I was looking to buy another I specifically searched for Phillips again because of its DivX capabilities. Why would anyone pay more for a dvd player that doesn't do it all like Phillips does? LOVE IT!

The Phillips DVD player with usb port is one of the best and most useful items I have ever bought. I put video's and pictures of my great grand baby on the sandisk flash drive and it works great. This is a great product and I would recommend it highly.
