Whistler 400-watt Power Inverter with Circuit Pro, PI-400W 4.2 5 106 117
Worked Great Well, I was going on a vacation for 2 weeks with my family, and I didn't want to be away from gaming for that long, so I needed a power inverter that would work for my PS2 and my portable DVD player (with docking station). This 400-watt power inverter worked great! I had no problems with it during the trip, using it for 7 hours straight and still worked fine. 07/03/2007
Convenient I bought this product and i was weary due to some bad reviews but ignore all that, mines the only one that counts. I hooked this up to a battery in my trunk and powered a 19 inch tv and super nintendo, very fun. Also it has saved me from when i forget to charge my phone many times because i can plug it up to the cig lighter too. It would be good to have on a roardtrip for sure. Or if your power goes out in your house it would be good to have. Also, alot of people complain about the fan? Dont worry about the fan noise, its not loud at all, the only reason you would hear it is if you drive in dead silence without music....... Well i would say buy one if your looking at the reviews. 10/24/2009
Well Built, Well Priced. But a Fixer-Upper. PRO:I was surprised at the quality of the device The box was heavier than I expected because of the strength the units construction. I ran some tests and everything checked out to my expectations.READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. The company gives clear easy to understand information as well as a technical glimpse of the modified square wave output. The unit is rated at 400 Watts with a peak of 800 Watts (surge required for starting some motors). Although not shown, the unit comes with a fused cigarette plug for 150 Watts or less and heavy duty battery clips for above 150 Watts. Hair driers and heaters are over 1,000 Watts and require an inverter rated at over 1KW.NEGATIVE:The units cooling fan IS POWERFUL, maybe too powerful. I had read about the Fan noise and it IS A PROBLEM. Being a "Do-It-Your-Selfer" I removed the four screws from the fan end plate of the inverter, DO NOT TOUCH THE SCREWS ON THE SIDES OF THE UNIT, I slid the bottom panel out and, after letting the fan run separated from the chassis to confirm the problem, decided that the fan was causing the chassis to resonate in a LOUD whine. A gasket made from bicycle inner tube completely lowered the whine to a purr.I recommend this Whistler product to anyone who wants a tough little inverter at a low price and is comfortable installing sound absorbing material between the fan and the end plate.I wrote to the company but even if they started adding a gasket immediately it would take 6 months to hit the shelves. 01/13/2010
