Have you tried the Whetstone website. Get in touch with customer service. I would imagine they would send you a screw through the mail, for the cost of a stamp

Seems to be a &quot;Walmart item&quot;.  Customer service, (800) 966-6546.  My knife came with no papers.

there isn&#39;t a regular screw it is a hexagon one look really carefully it probably is actually there. use a light. if it isn&#39;t there contact whetstone they can help.

Excellent survival knife

A perfect product for hiking and camping. This is a great knife and survival kit for the price. I have no complaints.

Great quality for the price

The knife is a substantial size, sturdy, with a nice handle that holds survival supplies.  The compass works.  The sharpening stone is small, but would help keep it sharp. The snap on the stone was hard to open.   The sheath is functional.  Overall, worth the money paid and will be used on camping trips.

big survival knife

Excellent hunting knife FOR THE PRICE. I purchased this solely for its multitude of uses and the value overall. The only issues I found were that the compass is a complete joke; and the knife needed to be properly cleaned and sharpened upon arrival. Definitely a must-have for minor camping trips and at an excellent price. However, the more... hardcore... outdoors-man will want to purchase something more expensive.

I think this is a really good product, however there is something that I was disappointed in, it is the knife holder itself, it broke and I had to hot glue it back together, it is coming apart again and I will probably have to hot glue it again, other than that it is a good product

Survival knife-great buy!

So far, so good! All of the components will do what they are intended to. The compass is cheap, but so far has worked just fine every time I use it. Just remember to hold it level! The only thing is that the knife was very dull and needed to be sharpened. Now I have it as sharp as a razor! I assume it was dull for safe shipping?

Bottom line...it's a great knife for the price!

Great for the price!

The knife itself is great once it has been sharpened enough. It had a good weight and good quality survival kit inside. The scabbard on the other hand could have been made with better quality. After I sharpened the blade, it started easily cutting a hole at the tip of the scabbard and started becoming dangerous until I wrapped it up to the pocket for the sharpening stone. The main part of the scabbard also completely separated from the belt loop with the rivits still attached to the loop. I can no longer carry it on my belt but can still keep it in my bug out bag.

Great Knife But Poor Quality Scabbard

Well the knife itself is "OK". The sharpening stone is about 1/8" thick, almost useless but will probably work in a pinch. It is all steel construction including handle. The blade is very thick and hard to sharpen but when you get an edge on it, it will last. Overall not a bad knife for the price.

It's an OK knife

If you are like me, you probably want to get a survival knife without spending a lot of money on it (and I knew better) because you are budget minded. But, you will get what you pay for. And what do you think you will get with this knife? If you say an inferior knife made in China that will rust and has a hollow handle with "emergency supplies" that have little or no real world value, and a compass that does not work, and a blade that won't hold an edge when used, you are right! This knife is one step above a toy.

Here's what I have learned about a survival knife:

1. Your life may depend on it.
2. It is the single most critical personal tool you will use to cut with and you will use it a lot and it must take a lot of abuse cutting, chopping, skinning game, exposure to weather and probably more beating than any other item in your gear.
3. Once again, your life may depend on it.

Here's a little background on getting a quality survival knife:

1. You want a full tang knife. A tang is the one piece of steel that forms the blade and comes all the way back into the handle. This increases the strength of the knife as a single unit. A hollow handle, like this knife (or any other) is prone to breaking at the base of the blade where it meets the handle.

2. Quality of steel... there are a wide variety of steels on the market from carbon, high chromium stainless steel, and different steel mix formulas that have advantages of strength, rust resistance, maintaining and edge, etc. This will require you to do a little Google research, and there are plenty of sites offering information.

3. Type and function...fixed blade v. folding knife. Fixed blade are more reliable for heavy use, but a folding knife can be used for more detailed work like skinning an animal. Each has pros and cons.

There are quite a few better quality knives to be had a little above the price point of this knife including Gerber, S.O.G., Schrade, etc.

I am going to give this knife to my grandson and buy a real knife.

I just purchased a basic Victorinox Swiss army pocket knife for my key chain ($15.00), and I will probably go with S.O.G fixed blade and folding knives for my survival gear.

What I have learned, and what I hope to pass on to you is do your research before spending money on what will prove to be junk with use....
