No. its meant to enhance and deposit color on hairs original color. Bleaching will make hair come out straight purple like the teenagers do.

For the best color, the lighter your hair is the better. I had light brown hair before using this color, and it turned out a plum/eggplant color.

Nope! You don't need to bleach your hair in order to get the great color! If you see my review, I posted a picture of the color after 8 weeks. I had dyed ginger red hair prior to using the London Lilac. No bleaching still gave me great purple color!

I chose to bleach my hair because I am naturally a medium brown. I wanted the lightest color that the Lilac hair dye could achieve (I wanted the picture on the front of the box). I used a bleaching kit from Sally's Beauty Supply and a friend helped me get the back pieces so everything would be even. I bleached to a medium blond color. I am very happy with the Lilac color I got when used over bleached hair. If you have darker hair color than a dark blond or light brown I would recommend bleaching or pre-lightening if you want a super vibrant purple. If you are ok with a darker overall color then you don't need to bleach- think chocolate covered cherries or a raven's wing effect when your hair catches the light.

In my opinion, I think it depends on how much purple you want your hair. What I am saying is - if you want a contemporary and not so bold statement with your hair color but like the purple part about it, I wouldn&#39;t bleach your hair. But, my hair was platinum blonde before I dyed my hair with the London Lilac, and it turned out great and very vibrant. It made my skin look darker too, and not so pale and brought my green eyes out more. If that isn&#39;t really your concern (the added facial additions) then I wouldn&#39;t worry about bleaching.

I liked London Lilac better, but check the boxes before you buy any hair color because I bought three boxes of VS London Lilac, got them home and not one of the boxes had the tube of colorant in them - just the developer and the conditioner.

So if you want the color that is on the outside of the box you will want to pre-lighten your hair. This goes for any "punky" or alternative color. If you don't want to bleach your hair you should expect darker results. It's like what happens to paint when you mix brown and blue. If you dye over your brown hair you will get a darker base color that will reflect blue or purple ( depending on your dye choice) when you get in the sun. Kind of like a raven's wing effect. From what I understand about your question is that you don&#39;t want a hair color that will be close to black- Well I have read that the Deep Violet will be closest to black. It will have violet hues in it when the light hits the hair but would look black. I just used the London Lilac, and it&#39;s dark purple, but not so dark that it looks black. But to be honest, my hair was platinum blonde before I dyed it. So, in your case, it may be darker than the color that I have received. But, if I had to give you a choice- I would go with the Lilac one.

The london lilac is just lighter brown and purple, the violet is darker brown and darker purple so it depends on which you prefer. I&#39;ve never had a problem with either of them fading or changing color in any way whatsoever and I&#39;ve been using them for almost 2 years and have tried them both.

no, you don't have to bleach your hair. Just try to color your hair every two weeks until you get the color that you want. try to use a good conditioner.

Yes you will. I learned this from it ruining my hair. You should just go to the salon to get it done. Then if you don't like it you can color over it. But if you use the box color there is no coloring over it. And this fades to orange pink which I don't think you want.

I bought this in three shades to get multi tonal highlights. Sadly, you can only see the purple in the sun because my hair is so dark. It looks great even though it blended in!!!

Although I can't say this is the perfect hair dye (I would only give that title to the hair dye that someday comes out of the tube smelling like peaches), it comes pretty close. It's been a while since I dyed my hair, maybe a couple of years, so maybe some of these things have become standard, but I was impressed by: the bottle that you don't have to snip the top off of with scissors (it just pulls off), the thicker-than-most disposable plastic gloves, and the big tube of conditioner that will last not just one, but four shampoos. My hair felt really soft when I was done with the whole process, which I didn't expect, and it gave good coverage. This color isn't is red as I thought it would be - it really is "light" - but that's ok. It's almost a strawberry blond/brown. Lighter than I planned to go, but I think next time I'll go a shade darker and it will be great.

This color is a darker version of the other new shade "London Lilac", and it is gorgeous with my pale skin tone...I am stocking up on this colour just in case it gets pulled off the shelves!
