Will the hot spot work on desktop computers?

Yes, but you have to set up a Verizon prepaid account. It is simple, you are prompted to the site the first time you use it.

I am not the Verizon customer.  Can I use this hot spot?

Connection

Love the small profile.  This was easy to activate with Verizon, and just as easy to use.  I carry it in my purse all the time.  No complaints about internet speed or the geography of where I have been able to use it.

Did not know how much I would like this

After trying Straight Talk's hotspot and having a far less than stellar experience with this, I gave this one a try.    I've never had any problems with it.  I do live in a strong Verizon area.  In areas where the signal is known to be iffy, it can slow it down a tad, but that's to be expected.  If I didn't stream so many  videos the way I do, I could get a lot more use out of the data I buy, but that's my fault.  Plus, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw they started adding more data to what you pay for.   When I first bought this hotspot, $60 paid for 3 GB.   Now it pays for 5 GB.   I have never had a negative issue with this that I couldn't resolve myself quickly and am more than happy I purchased it.   It's never let me down.   Hint:  If you know you have data yet it's not connecting to web pages, utilize the "troubleshoot my internet connection" option on your computer.    Your computer will look for what could be the problem, more than likely find it, and your computer will on its own reset whatever it needs to reset between your computer and your hotspot.  It's worked for me..

Never any issues

If you need portable Wi-Fi for the times when other options are unavailable, this product is awesome...provided you have a strong 4G signal and only use it for necessities, such as business, e-mail, or schoolwork. If you have a smartphone that can turn into a hot-spot, you probably don't even need this.

These are not intended to be your main source of internet; watching movies/videos will blow though your data in hours.

Pros: Good battery life/Portable/Fast

Cons: Expensive data

If your phone can't be used for a hot-spot, you need portable internet, and there is a good Verizon signal, you can't go wrong with this product.

If you plan on using this as your main internet...you may want to rethink.

Does what it advertised to do.

Had the jetpack for five months.  Had to go to Verizon to activate it last December and guy spent two hours to get it going.  It worked well in Florida.  Now June I want to use it again.  Bought time for 1 month, went to Verizon office and they can't activate it.  Told me to wait 24 hours, call a certain telephone number and it would be ready to use.  No such luck.  Spent two hours on telephone and computer and cannot activate it.  Called Verizon and they can't help me and cannot give me my money back for service for 1 month.  Stay away from this product and Verizon.  Very disappointed.  Very frustrating dealing with Verizon and their online instructions.

Verizon junk

Could not get device to activate properly. Took it to Verizon shop and THEY couldn't do it. It took 5 different people in tech support to get it to work. And once it DID activate, the 180 days of service I paid for turned out to be only 30 days. Now, I can't even access the online account for it. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.

Nothing but dissapointment.

Do not waste your time or money on this piece of junk. I was on the phone with Verizon trying to get this to work. I had purchased 4G to start with and then another 3G data plans because it said it would be good for 60 days. While I was talking with Verizon, they used up enough of my data that my 4G allowed me 1 hour and 12 minutes to read my email. I called them back and they tried to tell me that someone had hacked into my account and used all my data. Luckily, I was able to prove that it was during the day and time when I was on the phone with them. So they gave me a credit of - wait for it - 500 Mb. Outraged, I applied my 3G prepaid card to my account and this time, I was able to use my computer for 3 days, about 3 hours each day and I was out of data. This little experience cost me 140.00 between buying this piece of junk and the prepaid data. Fortunately, Walmart did refund my money for the piece of junk. So I was out 90.00 because you can't return the prepaid cards. I refuse to go back to "comc-X" if you catch my drift but I refuse to give up on internet other than on my phone. Does anyone have any suggestions when the only home internet in my area has a monopoly on home internet? Smh, ugh!

This is junk

The 1st one would not work I called Verizon they tried to make it work but instead used 1000 GB and then only credited me 900 MB still had problems was very slow and would kick me off and i would have to log on again and restart my application.

They finally told me it was the device and to return it, I took it back and got another one, same problem so I returned it and got a different device and company..it works really well so far. Straight talk...is what I got

You have to take it to Verizon store ... it's locked.

These are shipped from a 3rd party who does NOT unlock the units. Verizon will not unlock and the Walmart stores won't take it back. Very disappointed with this experience!

Not unlocked

I needed a wifi device quick (I'll leave out the explanation) and couldn't get the one which I wanted and had used before in time and had to settle for whichever one would arrive at the store soon enough to get me going. No difficulties activating and using the device - worked right out of the box. The problem was
1. The charge for the data was ostensibly (what they tell you when you're paying for it) only twice (!) what I was paying to (competitor starts with the letter between S and U) for the same amount of data.
2. The charge that I actually incurred was actually WAY higher than that.
3. I couldn't believe how quickly the data on this thing ran out.
4. It was ridiculous.
5. It was really, really, REALLY ridiculous.
I cannot emphasize strongly enough how shocked I was at how quickly the data on this device drained, and thusly my money did along with it.
I don't know what the deal with Verizon phone services is. I've never had a Verizon phone, wifi or whatever else contract or prepaid account before this. For all I know the phone data plans are fine and I'm not trying to knock those. But whatever the deal is, there seems to be something amiss in their wifi department. In all honesty, I currently cannot conceive of ever purchasing another product from Verizon. It was that bad.
