DVD-R, because most dvd players plays them, especially old dvd players. I did my research on them all and DVD-R is the best because I download and burn movies once in awhile.

DVD+ is more for computer use. DVD- will work on everything else.

I prefer the dvd-r only because some players don't like to play the dvd+r dvd's but most newer or somewhat quality name brand players will play back both. but I do usually buy the dvd-r disk

I have always used the -R for that, with no problems.

I have bought and used the + and the - and have noticed no difference in what I use them for.

USUALLY DVD+R ARE USED TO COPY VIDEOS TO BE PLAY ON DVD PLAYERS, AND DVD-R ARE USED FOR COPY OF GAMES AND SUCH

While I agree with the answers that are here, the one thing you want to know is a simple answer. So unless you have an antique DVD Player or DVD burner, it does not matter about plus and minus. There were format wars back in the days but its non concerning now.

Typically you can dupe from one to the other. I think +R can hold a tiny bit more but I have never had an issue copying from one to the other. The main thing is to make sure all of the devices you will use the DVD in supports DVD-R.

Difference I should know Between DVD + and DVD - when Buying

The surface actually looks silvery with a slight purple hue.

Is the data recording surface of these DVDs blue or silver?

As long as the discs have been successfully recorded, they should play in any DVD or Blu-ray player. Please contact our Technical Support at 1.800.538.8589 and they can assist you in determining and correcting the problem you hare having with playback.

They should work IF your player supports them. Check your owner&#39;s manual to make sure it says your player specifically supports DVD-R (as opposed to maybe DVD+R). Most current players will support either but I recently found a current Sony up-convert DVD player that does not list support for DVD-R which is ridculous since historically players have always supported DVD-R moreso than DVD+R.

They play in mine and should play in any BluRay player. Be sure the disc is properly recorded and FINALIZED. If it isn&#39;t finalized it will only play on the machine it was recorded on.

Could be a compatiblitly issue. These discs work fine in my Sony Blu-ray player, and that player is 5 years old. If it&#39;s not a compatibility issue with your player, then I would suggest it is your disc. Try burning another copy and make sure it is properly formatted for use with DVDs/Blu-rays. An AVI, MPEG2, MPEG4 will work with most players. If it&#39;s any other format, compatibility is not guaranteed. 

Also, you might want to check your lens. Does it need to be cleaned?

I was in the market for blank dvd media, and wanted a cheaper alternative to the great Sony brand. I've filled up 15 dvds so far with no problem, and have not came across a dud disk yet. Way better than memorex in my opinion.

An excellent cheaper option to Sony

Only needed one but I had to order the whole pack for what I needed.  Burned great for a game I needed to display on the bus monitors for our trip to NY. No problems at all. Good quality.

Great Buy!

Verbatim DVD with AZO technology far superior to all the bargain brands. DO NOT BUY Verbatim "Life series".  Not nearly as good as Verbatim with AZO technology.
I have used probably over 600 of these and coaster percentage is between 1% and 2%  that is the fault of the DVD not the drive. My last order was for four containers of 50 packs. Was cheaper than two containers of the 100 packs. Order arrived for pick up at the store two or three days BEFORE estimated date. Very impressive. Again, order  the Verbatim with AZO technology - NOT the "Life" or "DataLIfeplus".

Great Disks

There are many types CDs or DVDs out there, but they all different quality.
If you a professional, I suggest the Azo, just hold one on your hand and
compare the weight to another type on your other hand.
I have tested the Azos under hot boiling water and cold water too.
I glad I was able to find the Azos here at Walmart.
Easy to order on line, and a good price.

Better Quality of Media

But found that Kodak and the brand that starts with "Im" had a failure rate of fifteen percent (one out of seven disks were coming up as bad). Now THIS brand I seem to have had only six percent of the disks have failed.

Clearly quality is an issue with all of them, but this brand seems to be the best of the Walmart brands - unless you wish to pay more than TRIPLE the cost!

In conclusion, you have a very cheap disk that has a very good success rate - making it one I will buy over and over again.

BUY THIS BRAND. Accept the failure rate, or pay three times the cost of the 'better disks'... and you will still run into a bad one every once in awhile anyhow.

When you want just a burned copy, and youre unsure whether your DVD burner will be compatible, the -R is the way to go. Its an older format, but more widely used, and a bit less reliable overall than the +R when burning. All discs are susceptable to errors, but you may experience a few more with -R than the +R DVDs. I have not had any problems using either format over the other.

DVD-R when you need less functionality

These Verbatim DVD-Rs will not burn on my Mac, PC nor LG peripheral CD/DVD burner. Memorex and Sony will, so I guess price actually matters. Thinking perhaps the first blank was defective, I tried a second, then went deep down into the stack. None would burn a thing. I'd recommend you spend more and stick with name brands.
