Quality of product is based on manufacturers

The Transformer is great and will make any Back to the Future fan happy.  Bought one for my daughter to play with and later one to display.  Her box was a little scuffed on one corner but mine had every corner damaged. My new transformer in G1 style box is not suitable for display or resale value.

Bashed in box corners

Smaller than you'd expect.  The Ectotron Transformer is right around 1:30 scale. Gigawatt is about 1:34.  Literally about 1/2 inch longer, and he'd at least be the same scale as Electron. Instead, he looks more like..fun car sized.  Why? How hard was it, to make it 1/2 inch bigger? And yes, I know the Ecto-1 was a big car.  You can still tell easily that the DeLorean isn't to the same scale.

Wheels tend to pop out of their joints when you convert to hover mode. Gull wing doors are nice, but inside, you just see a mess of random arms/legs/etc.  Still, a nice touch compared to Ectotron, who has no extra features.  DMC logo missing from grill of car. Time coils on side are black instead of silver. Lightning hook is a really nice touch, though.  Not sure why there are extra flux capacitors on his legs though.

Packaging is nice, though it will likely ship in a soft package, which means...crushed box on delivery. Packing has a blueprint of a DeLorean in the background...but....it's just a normal DeLorean. Blueprints of the Time Machine exist and are easy to find, why didn't they use that? Back of box shows the Time Machine with characteristic flame trails, but a license plate that reads BK2FUT2. Which is the license plate from the 1989 teaser poster, and was never seen on the car. Why not use the OUTATIME plate which is actually on the toy? Oh, they just took the image from the poster, and stuck it on the box. 
 
Am I nitpicking? No. This is a well established, iconic hero car, that had a very specific look. Resources on what it is supposed to look like are PLENTIFUL. 

So....what went wrong? 35 year anniversary, and the details just don't matter that much? 

BTTF fans deserve better. Sure, we'll probably buy it...but this could have been SO much better. Instead, feels like Hasbro just said "Eh, good enough."

I still recommend getting it, as it's BTTF merch....but if you can find it cheaper, do so.

The product is amazing. It is a 35 year anniversary collectable. My issue is it was shoved into a box it was too large for to be shipped. When it arrived and the package was opened. The collectable package was crushed to fit into the shipping box. I recommend this item, but not to be shipped by Walmart.

The figure is fine but they ship in an unpadded plastic envelope which ruins the box and the collectibility value.

Pretty cool mash up of a Transformer and Back to the Future, but as with other reviewers' comments, there was absolutely no care in the packaging. It came in a shipping bag with no protection and the box was severely damaged. It also looks like this was a return in which Walmart tried to repair the box prior to the next shipment. Pieces of tape hidden inside the packaging to cover up previous damage. If not for COVID-19, I would have seeked out a local, small business for this purchase. Definitely learned my lesson to stay away from using Walmart unless no other option.

Box arrived damaged. Walmart needs better packaging than just throwing the item in a box with no additional padding, like air bags or popcorn. Item would be great if not for this! Highly disappointed with Walmart!

First off package arrived in a envelope not a box and my item was smashed, for a collector packaging meant everything. On top of that it's not the Walmart exclusive but the general release packaging which kinda sucks. Will be returning
