Yes it is a mirror finish & the tri-ply is on the sides as well as the bottom. I own almost the whole set and it is untouchable for the price. My father spent over $1000 on his set and absolutely loves mine.

It is Tri-ply clad throughout - bottom and sides.

It is mirror-finished on the outside of the pot and lid. The insides are more brushed/flat finished, though still bright. The finish is exactly the same, inside and out, as my All-Clad Stainless pieces.

This is a gorgeous and well-crafted pot!

As far as I can tell the construction is well done, and materials are tri-ply clad throughout. The mirror finish is only on the exterior. Bottom and inside pot are more of a regular brushed stainless look. When I wash the stock pot, I'm sure to towel dry the exterior mirror finish immediately to keep water spots from forming. Heating evenly is exemplary and one of the aspects of the tri-ply that makes it worth the cost. This is one of the nicest stock pots I've owned.

The exterior of the stock pot has a mirror finish and the interior has a fine satin finish. It is tri-ply clad, so this means that the three layers are are along the sides, as well as the bottom.

Is the $99 stock pot mirror fininshed throughout and tri-ply on the sides as well as the bottom?

I don't know this for a fact, but it appears that Tramontina is re-launching many of their tri-ply clad items for ~$20 more than what they were previously selling for. I've wanted this 12 quart pot for a while, so that's pretty frustrating!

Based on that, my guess would be that the pots are basically the same...but the $99 one is replacing the $79 one that is no longer in stock.

I looked at the store model, but I had read reviews where the in-store stock pot was a lesser quality item. Sure enough, when I inspected it, I noticed the handles were not riveted the same as the online more expensive item, and it had silicone handles, where the online model was all stainless steel. I had also read reviews where the in-store stock pot was prone to pitting on the inside when highly acidic liquids were processed in it. Since most of my usage would be making tomato sauces, this was a concern. So far, I have not seen any evidence of this happening with the online stock pot I purchased.

What is the difference between the 12 qt stock pot @ $79.97 and the one at $99.97

Tramontina in my opinion is the best cookware on the market regardless of price. I am a caterer and use my pots everyday. I could not be happier with my purchase.

I bought a second set and this large stock pot.

Excellent

The quality of this stainless steel pot is unsurpassed. There is another brand which sells for more than twice as much, which I cannot afford, so I am grateful that this is available. It also passed the "magnet test". Apparently there are two grades of stainless steel, the higher grade will attract a refrigerator magnet, as this one did, and the lower grade, possibly toxic, will repel a magnet.
Whenever I need a new pot I will buy this brand from Walmart.

Blue ribbon quality pot

I own just about the full set of the Tramontina Tri-Ply cookware, and each piece is wonderful. I bought this 12 quart to replace an old aluminum pot used for making mostly sauces. Got to use it the day it arrived and the results were amazing. Much easier to cook with a pot that spreads the heat so evenly. Very noticeable improvement over the old pot - it went straight to the trash.

Nothing comes close especially in this price range

As much as I enjoy the product, I was even more impressed on how quickly it arrived. For free shipping, I believe it says it could take around two weeks. The pot was here in three days--thank you.

About time I purchased something of this quality

I have only had this stock pot for two weeks, and I've used it for making large batches of soup and tomato sauce several times. The pot is well constructed and heats evenly. The lid doesn't sputter when liquids boil which is a problem I have had with other brands. Size of stock pot is perfect for double batches which is great in the middle of harvest season - but any larger and I think it would be difficult to lift and pour. I researched this brand and I am particular about quality - I feel it is an affordable product, and well made. I also feel the price is a good value compared to other brands.

Well Constructed Product

I gave this to a friend so he could switch from unhealthy aluminum to stainless steel. No more dried fried rice sticking to bottom of pots and pans. Use less gas to heat and cook same food as it works great on low heat.

Great Product at a great price

This stockpot seems very nicely made. It is very solid and performed well when I made a stock/soup last weekend. I was able to cook two chickens at once without feeling like the pot was getting too full. I like the mirror finish - it looks beautiful.

Seems good quality

This brand is one of the best values in clad cookware.  I have several pieces and these are comparable to my AC pieces at a fraction of the price. They arrived well packaged and in pristine condition. They tolerate the dishwasher well and cook evenly on my gas range.  I love the versatility of being able to go from stove top to oven.  The handles are a good size which allows for a good solid grip.

The pot came to a boil quickly for pasta and it quickly goes back to temperature after putting in the ingredients so if  you like your pasta al dente be advised--you will need to keep an eye on the pot as things will be done fast.  Enjoy

Lovely Cookware

This pot is a huge improvement over my current stock pot. It's nice and heavy and did not burn the "Sunday sauce" I cooked in it. I am a bit disappointed that after the first use the inside of the pot is discolored over about 30-40 % of the bottom of the pot. It won't effect the use of the pot but didn't expect that.

I purchased this 12qt pot to make slow, simmered bone broth. However, after just one use the interior bottom developed a rainbow coloring. I called Tramontina and their rep said the rainbow happens when the pot is used with high temperatures. I did not, only the lowest simmer. In addition, the steam streams out right at the handles, no matter how the lid is turned, steam comes out at the handles, making them too hot. Last, the mirror finish only looks nice before you cook with it the first item, after which it is very hard to clean. That was the least con. I ended up returning it.
