I don't know this for a fact, but from browsing through their products on the Walmart website, Tramontina seems to be re-launching many of their best-selling tri-ply clad items - and now, every item is selling for ~$20 more than it used to be!

So my guess would be that the 2 items are the same (hopefully they didn't re-design it, because I have the 4 quart sauce pan that I purchased for $49 and it is FABULOUS!)...so the $49 one is out of stock because it has been replaced by the $69 one.

Don't know. Possibly one is pre-induction and current is post-induction capability.

From what I've seen in the stores as compared to the set/pieces I have (and I have them all and then some - even the 3 qt. steamer and double boiler, and 6 qt dutch oven, which are very rare), which were purchased 2-3 years ago, the more expensive ones you see online are the newer models. The newer models have covers that are a bit thinner than the older versions, and the handles are solid, not hollowed out underneath, which makes them even easier to hold. The pan thickness may also be a bit thinner than the old ones. Additionally, the pan interiors are a satin finish, rather than mirror finish.

The more expensive pan has an outer layer of magnetic steel and can be used on induction cooktops. Otherwise they're the same.

The lid is stainless steel (not tri-ply). I don&#39;t know what &quot;steam hold&quot; means, but the edge of the lid sits on the edge of the pot, then it goes down inside the pot a bit, so that any condensation that forms on the lid falls back into the pot.

The Tramontina 4-Qt Tri-Ply Clad Sauce Pan with Lid, Stainless Steel should be food grade 18-10 type as with any other stainless steel product coming into direct contact with food meant for ingestion.

The pan side itself is thick, and about as much as a silver dollar. However, the stainless steel top, or lid is about half the thickness of the pan side, unfortunately, or just as thick as a dime with regard to American coinage. From opinion the thickness of the pan top is most adequate with consideration of the weight when lifting during the cooking process.

As a side note, the rivets are solid, without holes on both pieces, and too answer the latter portion of this question there are no “holes” to allow steam to escape, but since the heat distribution is exceptional without a top, one can cook the same without on medium heat as with a higher setting. This is of course and of mention within consideration of an electrical stove, or oven.

Additionally, the recess around the inside of the top allows one to “tilt” the lid in order to allow the heat to recede to any direction one could desire making this a more so better product than if the lid would have had a whole, where most such “pots” ultimately do not keep heat well with a top, and endlessly tend to boil over regardless, tri-ply or not.

Preference, choice, or anew experience this product appears to be most solid from an opinion of the construction, use, as well as, hand wash cleanup.

The lid is all stainless steel and does not have a steam hole/vent in it.

The lid for the 4-Qt Tri-Ply Clad Sauce Pan is made of 18/10 stainless steel, and is precision-fitted to help lock in nutrients, but does not have any steam vents or holes to release the steam. If you are interested in purchasing this cookware, an alternative to the steam vent is to slightly lift the lid on one side to release the steam from the pan.

I picked up this sauce pan after reading good reviews and I am fully satisfied with its performance! The first thing I did was whip up a large batch of rice pudding. No sticking, no burning on the bottom, great heat retention... delicious results. The 'helper handle' made it much easier to move when full and the lid fit snugly while the pudding simmered away. I monitored the heat closely since fully clad cookware takes less heat for the same result. Not so much as a brown kernel stuck to the bottom, but I can tell that monitoring the heat is critical until you get used to the pan.

Fantastic Sauce Pan!

I have some All-Clad pieces and can attest that Tramontina is a very good quality product.  The differences in performance are marginal. Indeed for the average home cook they will likely not even be noticed. This pan heats quickly, cooks evenly and consistently and is dishwasher tolerant. I cook on a gas stove and have experienced very good results each time.  It is not non-stick but a good soak will soften up the more stubborn food bits stuck on. BarKeepers Friend will successfully clean up stains or use a vinegar/ water solution and let it sit for short period.

Stainless does not interact with foods which imparts no metallic taste nor will there be any teflon bits disappearing into a recipe.
The pans are manufactured in either China or Brazil. I have pieces from both. They are the same quality and performance. The only difference is price.  The warranty is great the product is low drama and should serve you well for a lifetime. Enjoy!

Excellent value

I purchased a Tramontina Tri Ply Clad 1.5 Qt. Saucepan as a "try out piece" before investing in a set. To make a long story short, after a week of using the saucepan, I purchased the 8 piece set. I am very pleased with my purchase, a terrific product at a wonderful price.

Great Value, Great Product

We bought this item to add to a larger set of Tramintino Tri-Oly cookware we previously purchased from Walmart. Several years ago I read a review from Americas Test Kitchen and they rated the Tramintino set as a best value. On that review we purchased the set. We have been extremely pleased. These are if the same quality as brands like All Clad, but far less expensive.

Very High Quality and Bargsin Prices

This is wonderful cookware that performs comparably with another more expensive brand at a fraction of the price.  This pot tends to be wider than their other sauce pans and more shallow - kind of like a saucier.  I have other pieces that I am very satisfied with and this vessel is no exception.  
There is no warping and it goes from stove to oven handily.  I have cooked soups, sauces and pasta with very little cleanup issue.  Anything stubborn can either be soaked out or heated on the stove with a little dish soap and water. These pans do tolerate the dishwasher well and any stains have cleared up with BKF.  Clad cookware really does make a difference in even heating and reduces time needed to get a pan to temperature.  Enjoy!

Wonderful value

The 3 qt is same size in diameter as the 4 qt because it uses same size lid but there is a distinct difference in exactly how much it holds which is 3 qt liquid. I measured my 4 qt filling it with measured water against the 3 qt thus the 3 qt is truly 3 qt. Again Tramontina quality is unbeatable in workmanship leaving nothing to be desired.

Other tri-ply aluminum core pans are MUCH more expensive. Walmart used to carry Better Homes and Gardens pans like this, guess this is the replacement. I ruined my 3-Qt pan by leaving it on the stove for hours--oops. Replaced it with this. Just remember it cooks great on LOW heat--doesn't stick--heavenly.

Great value for the money!

I bought this pan after much research. I am a fan of Tramontina brand. It's a great product at a great price. I purchased this same pan a few years ago and made a huge goof. I filled it with water and put it on my smooth top cook top on high to boil the water.....totally forgot about it and went to bed. It 'cooked' all night long on high. The next morning it was dry but still intact. My cooktop was totally fine. The pan was somewhat warped but I could still use it......til I got around to ordering another one. Don't recommend that trick to others. But another pan of lesser quality would probably have damaged the cooktop...much less stood up to test and kept on cooking.
