Create a barrier against ants, fire ants, roaches, fleas, earwigs and more with TERRO Ant Killer Plus. This fast-acting treatment works within 24 hours to keep your home free of the most persistent pest insects, while also offering residual control. For increased effectiveness, this product can be applied as a perimeter treatment around the foundation of your home, spread on lawns, or used a spot treatment on ant hills and fire ant mounds. TERRO Ant Killer Plus is packaged in a resealable shaker bag to allow for easy application. Simply open the top, grab the handle located at the bottom of the bag, and start spreading the granules. There’s no need to use a spreader! To apply as a perimeter treatment, create a 3 to 10 foot band of granules along your foundation. To treat ant hills (except fire ants), apply 1 to 2 teaspoons on granules over and around the ant hill. Be sure to water the granules lightly immediately following application. To control fire ants, apply &frac12; cup of granules over, and 2 feet around each mound. After apply, gently water the product with a minimum of a gallon of water to each mound area. Avoid using a high-pressure hose, which could disturb the ants and cause migration.

This is not animal-friendly, but the scent tends to be a repellent.

If consumed directly, but IAW the use guide, you need to lightly water these granules after application. That will disperse it enough so there are not any chunks for birds to accidentally ingest. 

Like other pyrethroids, lambda cyhalothrin disrupts the nervous system in insects, causing paralysis and death (#NPTN). It is highly toxic to bees, for which the oral LD50 is 38 ng/bee, and the contact LD50 is 909 ng/bee (#EXTOXNET).

It contains 0.04% of Lambda cyhalothrin, see below, second sentence.

Lambda cyhalothrin has a very low toxicity in birds. The oral LD50 in mallard duck is greater than 3,950 mg/kg (#EXTOXNET).

Lambda cyhalothrin is very toxic to fish. Some studies have indicated that the chemical may accumulate in these organisms (#NPTN).

The back of the bag says that you should keep children and pets off the lawn until you&#39;ve watered the application and it has dried.

According to the bag, approx. 1000 square feet. In my case, my house foundation is about 200 foot around, (75 L X 25 W), and sprinkled it sparingly first time around then had enough to make another trip around about 4 to 5 feet out. I also sprinkled it heavier where I saw ant trails and one bag was enough.

In your case, maybe two bags to do parts of the yard also.

I opened the bag as per instructions, but found it easier to control how much after zipping it half shut. It comes out quite fast otherwise.

Just applied today, so unsure if the amount I applied is sufficient. But some of the trails seem to be unorganized only hours after application.

Remember, IAW instructions you also need to lightly water your application area(s) before it will begin to work. So have enough water hoses too. Unless your lucky and can apply before a light rain.

The area covered will vary based on how thickly the product is applied.

I have a 950 sq ft home.  I shake it out 4ft from the perimeter and still have some left with one pass.  So, I shake it around the back yard to finish the bag

My neighbor used to be a fanatic about bug and weed control. They sold their home and moved a couple of years ago. I never had any pest issues when they lived next door. This spring I noticed I had deadish spots in my yard. I thought it was damage from the dry fall and spring. I noticed that in the dead area I had ant hills. I also noticed I had ants coming in by my front door. After some research I found that the issues were because they had decided to move into my yard. Terro products have always worked well for me in the past. I decided to give this product a try. This is easy to use but if you have pets you have to take notice when you're using it to be careful with the pets around. It takes more than one application but has made a difference. The dead looking spots are improving. I am also going to treat other areas that don't have anything showing up to prevent the settling to a new area.

Works Fine

I liked this product, i was not sure because of the cheap price. within 1-2 hours we had no ants and no spiders. we have to reapply every 2 months in the summer.

good coverage

Ive used this product for years. Once this is applied to the ant mound, add a little water and the ants will take the mixture back to their nest and the mound will be flat within days. Also you can just wait untill a day that rain is forecasted, that will save you the trouble of adding water to each mound. intinally these steps are not required, but they worked for me.

Sprinkled the ant killer and the mounds disappeared, and there was no activity when poking around with a stick a few days later

This product is excellent! As seasons change we often have ants find their way onto our porches and around our house. This product has become a go to over the years. I trust it because it works! The ants around our house usually start to disappear within the week and my sanity is returned. Great, reliable product.

Excellent Trustworthy Product

Used this in some large pots containing fruit root stocks. Applied approx. 1 tbsp. Watered and the ant colonies starting dying off. By the afternoon, top of soil covered with dead ant bodies.

Fast.

This product does kill ants. I don't care for the product and the ant hill being left behind but it does what it's suppose to do.

I had found the tiny black ants by my kitty's food bowls.  I tried a home defense spray with no avail.  This stuff worked the day I used it! Haven't seen a ant in a month!  But...the granules stick to your shoes and get tracked in the house.  I dealt with it for about 2 weeks so I knew no ants were coming back then swept the walk so we wouldn't keep tracking it in.  Still no ants.  I used this with Terros liquid ant traps.  All Gone!

Works great but...

we used this around the border of our house %26 on the ant piles we could find. It does seem to have worked in keeping the ants out of our house but the spots we put them on the pile the ants just moved over a few feet %26 built new nests...not sure how much better it is than other methods.

I also bought and used the liquid traps the same day.  I was able to clearly find the entry point through which the ants were filing in.  Terror definitely killed the ants and kept things clear long enough for me to get professionals out to start pest control services.
