I didn't use the return eye, but the water should be drained below that for winterization.

Does the return eye close for winterization?

No. It does not have a place to attach the Summer escapes Pump motor. But it will work with the summer escapes series if u get rid of the exsisiting pump and filter and go with a sand filter as I have ... the money I have saved by doing away with the paper filters has already paid for my sandfilter.

It should, the connection is a 1 1/2" so, it should handle a 1000GPH pump

is this through the wall skimmer compatible with the summer escape model pools?

Yes it will work, I just put it in a 15ft Intex. Measure twice and cut once.

You can do that. That is what I did for my pool. Just be careful cutting the liner. I would wait until I have the unit installed, and then cut the liner with a razor blade.

OMG! Love this thing.. Wish I'd have bought it when i bought first pool.. I don't have to net the pool anymore.. Vacuuming is a whole lot easier with the included attachment.. My husband installed it in about 15 minutes.. Definitely recommend!!

Love it!

I bought this skimmer to replace the over the top one that comes with the Intex 15x48" metal frame pool. Walmart's prices was the cheapest so I ordered with 2 day shipping. Needless to say, 4 days later it still had not been shipped. A little complaining on my part and they had refunded me the shipping and 2 days later the skimmer was here. Works as expected and if your planning on putting this on your Intex, don't worry about cutting the pool. Those Intex pools are tough!!

Easy to install

I was unable to find a skimmer for the pool we purchased from Walmart last year. Ours broke because of how cold our winter was and I forgot to keap the drain cap off. Anyway, Walmart doesn't offer a skimmer with the pump on it like the one had that the pool came with so I took a chance and ordered this one and I am very pleased with this skimmer. All it took was a couple of modifications and it worked like a charm.

Skimmer works great!

I was disappointed the skimmers did not describe the color (it's grey). It seems there is a white one available but I didn't realize that until I received this one. Overall, good quality and would purchase it again if needed (but maybe in white).

our intex pool did not have a above the water skimmer and the pool stayed full of bugs and trash on the top surface. the skimmer was installed and now I can walk up to my pool and not have to get the net and get bugs out of it.

Worked great just had to have 2 people holding it together to get the screws to go in tight enough.

It's a plastic mold and not good. The surface that's suppose to mount to the wall of the pool isn't even. Returned product for my refund and purchased a Hayword from pool store.
