It is clear Spalding could have done a better job on labeling the pieces to this system, most especially the nuts/bolts/washers. The problem is the hardware kit is meant to address more than one product. HOWEVER, that being said I found I did in fact have all the hardware you just need to be diligent about comparing sizes and descriptions in the legend to the actual hardware in the package. For instance, there were pics of bolts that had threads only going up 1/4 or1/3 of the stem of the bolt, but the actual bolt I had was fully-threaded but otherwise matched the legend perfectly. OR, it would be vice-versa the bolt I had contained 1/3 thread length and the pic showed full thread length. The reason it takes people so long to build is trying to figure this stuff out, I think. I really took my time comparing and matching so yes it takes 4-5 hours but isn't a "difficult" job, just time consuming. TIP: WHEN BOUNCING POLES I PUT SOME SILICONE SPRAY ON THE INSIDE OF THE FEMALE RECEIVING POLE AND THE OUTSIDE OF THE MALE POLE---MAKE SURE POLES ARE POSITIONED PROPERLY BEFORE PUTTING TOGETHER --- AND THEY BOUNCED IN VERY EASILY!! GOOD LUCK!

Mine came in with all the screws. Call Walmart and ask for the screws and other objects that should come with it.

Yes this one does. If you're strong enough you can wheel it around by tipping it. But it is pretty heavy.

Great system backboard is very sturdy. It is definitely a two man job assembling & lifting etc. It was put together in approximately 2 hours. Like other have said you'll need to pretty much bang the post together to get them to fit properly. It seems to better than the old Spaulding 54' portable system especially with the height adjustments turn crank. Be sure to add sand bags or something to add extra weight as water in the base isn't enough. We have mild weather and the old system fell over and bent the rim. Also, tries the gel it didn't work as well. Great exercise & family time!

Spaulding Hoop

My son loves this system he thinks he is really in the NBA. The product was easy to install follow the directions as stated and you will not have any problems. I put Lithium grease on the poles when i put them together went right on no problem. We love this system look forward to many years with this one really nice and sturdy.

My 14 year old son and I assembled the basketball hoop in about two hours. I had him do most of the work as I supervised and thought it was a good experience for him. I took the suggestion of a previous rater and removed all the hardware from its packaging, placed it on a piece of packing cardboard and labeled them. This took a little time but made the assembly process go smoother. My only complaint is that some of the steps are vague. Both the written instructions and diagram need to be studied thoroughly before you complete the step, and it doesn't help that the first step is the most complicated. It is also very important that the three sections of the pole are assembled correctly. If not, the unit will not work. Take a look at the picture of the finished product and it will help. All in all, with a little time and patience, you will be playing in no time on a high quality backboard.

Great product. Directions a bit vague.

Had it for about a month seems very durable.  Easy to change the height, and most of the nieghborhood kids come to shoot on it even though they have their own goals.  My kids actually don't mind getting off there tablets and phones to go shoot hoops.  It was a little hard to put it together.

Seeing as basketball hoops range in price from $99 -$1500, this is a pretty good deal.

Bought this today, and assembled it in two hours, alone.

After reading some reviews criticizing the difficulty of assembly and instruction manual, here is my two cents:

So long as you're not an open mouthed breathing moron and have enough brain cells to read english (or the other languages the manual comes in) you should be able to not only assemble this rather quickly, but without needing assistance as well.

This is a portable basketball hoop for kids sold at Walmart; you will not see this at the Staples center or Lebron James dunking on this.  You want that, spend a couple $K and you'll be there.

This basketball goal is a really good piece of equipment for the $200-$300 range. Assembly was very easy to follow, and it took my neighbor and I just under an hour to put it together. Make sure you have a sawhorse of some sort of table to sit it on while assembling the backboard. I highly recommend this adjustment over the fitted adjustment. This adjuster allows you to sit it on any curb, and still get an accurate reading on the height of the goal. Also, be sure to fill the base with sand. Water makes it easier, but if you spend the extra 20 bucks it will be well worth it. The goal doesn't budge, and you won't have to worry about freezing temperatures. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a cheaper goal that will live a long time.

Great goal, Great price

The hoop was very difficult to assemble. The pole comes in three separate sections and it was nearly impossible to fit them together. The hoop also did not come with the rim that was advertised in the picture also it did not come with the pole pad. I called spalding and they said this model does not come with a pole pad and that they have told walmart this but walmart continues to advertise it that way. Once together though my kids love it. Good price but lots of headaches.

Did not come as advertised

Assembly instructions vague at best, leading to erroneous assembly of the pole. Only remedy is to order the 3 new pieces from Spalding ($75). They could easily put stickers on matching surfaces to make it easy. Hard to understand why not when all liability control stickers are there.

Poor to Fair

We bought this for our kids for Christmas. Shipping was prompt. We had to wait for decent weather to put it together. I was working through all the steps. I was following all the instructions. I got the supports attached to the base only to notice that my base was cracked (before I even tightened the bolts on the support arms. The product says it has a five year warranty. You have to call Spaulding even though you bought it al. Wal-Mart. Upon calling Spaulding, they said they could replace the base ad a courtesy ONE time (that 5 year warranty may not mean much). They wanted the part number (which was located on the base). I gave it to them. I also mentioned that a couple of bolts may have been stripped when I was having to remove all the bolts I had already assembled. They wanted exact part numbers for each bolt (it comes with a pack
of
hardware screws/ bolts that they could have just replaced pretty cheaply. I told the rep that it would just be easier for me to go to the hardware store and replace the bolts I needed.

We received the new base a few days later. It was the wrong one. Their customer service is only open M-F 8-5. I will have to call again and probably get to fight with them. Here it is, a month after Christmas and no basketball goal. Now I will have to wait until better weather (if they send me the correct base). I was going to wait to review the product. It may be nice after I get it up (if they send me the correct base). Luckily I am mechanically inclined and have the ability to engineer a base to cement in the ground if this doesn't work. In the meantime, my garage is cluttered with parts to a useless basketball goal.

Beware if you need absolutely anything from Spaulding.

Spaulding Customer Service is Lacking

We live in Arizona and our stand melted within 4 months of sun exposure. It can not be used in direct sunlight.
