I'd say firm but not hard. Side sleeper also and I do really like this mattress.

I would rate this firm. But it is a different feeling altogether from a regular mattress. You sink in about 1 or 2 inches after a bit and then it firms up. It feels hard when you first lay down but if you stay still it will form around you. Every time you move you have to wait 10 seconds or so until it "melts".

I would say firm but comfortable. You feel like sleeping on the cloud. The mattress foam your body shape not against your body- like the coil mattress

This is a firm mattress. I am a side sleeper also but I am also a two pillow sleeper because of allergies. This bed works great for me. The mattress molds to you but I think you might have to adjust your pillow thickness - would probably depend on whether you are currently sleeping on a very soft mattress

I would consider it (the 8") a medium mattress. I feel the mattress conforming to my curves. My mom just bought the 12" mattress and it is much firmer, but I only laid on it for a few minutes to see how it compared to my 8".

The Spa Sensations memory foam mattress is a bit on the firm side, but the features of the memory foam is that it will adjust to the contour of you and your wife's body and have a cradling effect. It is perfect for side sleepers with proper support in the shoulders, back and hips.

It is firm. I sleep on my side on it, though, and it conforms to my body so it is not uncomfortable.

None of the above. I call it supportive. It does not have soft, medium or firm springs. My brother is a side sleeper on his. He sleeps better with his 8" Spa Sensations mattress. I don't get paid for this. I had a lot of questions and now I have a lot of answers.

On a scale of 1 (marshmallow) - 10 (rock) is a 7 or 8. Zero give. If noise or movement disturbe you, this will be ideal. Its hard though.

I've tried different memory foam and yes this is on the more firm side.

Is this mattress considered soft,medium, or firm?

This mattress definitely has a cover, it is a plush knit fabric with a zipper. This allows the cover to come off the mattress easily, so that the cover is easily machine washable.

it does has a soft cover that can actually be removed from the foam mattress (ziper) for washing.

It has a washable fabric cover, but I recommend using a mattress pad for easier cleaning.

It has a cover on it that you can actually zip off and wash if you want to.

It comes enveloped in a thin zippered covering. The top and sides are soft, the underside is zippered along the inside edges and is a bit rough, probably designed that way on purpose to keep it from sliding off a foundation.
I'm using the Easy Steel Bed Frame and it's wonderful with just the foam mattress.

We have our mattress directly on the frame right now, and it seems to be working just fine. It's a little low without the box spring though.

No you don't need a box spring as long as the frame can support just a mattress.

That depends on the bed you have. I bought the smart base bed from walmart. if you have that sorta thing then you dont need a boxspring but if your bed has pretty much a frame thats part of the rails then you need a box spring.
