takes about 3-4 days for the grass to appear through the dirt, up to a week till it is long enough to give to the cats.   I have at least 3 dozen rescue cats at any given time and not all cats eat this grass.  Most eat it when they are upset and it helps them vomit getting rid of what is making them sick, often a hairball.  Some eat it like a salad, not to throw-up.   Each one lasts about 2 weeks before you can see that it is time for a new one.  You have to keep it moist, and sometimes    it creates mold at the base of the grass or underneath.  (you can tell by smelling it)  When one is coming towards the end, I usually start another.  especially good for indoor-only cats, or in the winter when the grass outside is dormant.  Highly recommend.

I just got my first one started, but can see getting at least one started ahead of the one kitty is feeding off of. I&#39;ll post back but my kitty loves it! See how she does.

Hey 7milesmile!  Mine took about 4 to 5 days to grow. With our one cat it lasts about three weeks. Even with watering, it gets to the point where it  just gets brown but our kitty loves it in the meantime! There are packages with either oat or wheat if you look for a little white sticker on the back it says which it is. I have only tried oat but &quot;my owner&quot; loves it so dare not change :-)
 It has gotten to the point where she purrs when she sees the package come out of the Wal Mart shopping bag.      Good Luck !

My cat loves it so much she tears it up, had to put it in a heavier pot so she would not pull it off the table.

It was easy to follow an instruction to grow the grass. It took about 3 days to sprout, but after that it was really fast to grown green. The only concern, it could be only my cat, is the container is really light and he could easily pick up both container and roots with dirt while he was eating. Over all, this is such a good product!

My cats love this and it heeps them out of houseplants. Only thing is ...use a MUCH LARGER pot than the one provided.

If you have a cat the loves to chew your plants and flowers, then this is a good item to invest in because it will give your cat something to chew on besides those precious plants of yours! It comes with soil and seeds. You plant the seeds and over time your cat will have his/her own grass to nibble on!

My cat stays indoor, so I grow cat grass for her to enjoy and she does love it. Give it a good amount of water as per directions, theyve always grew well! Never had any problems with it. Have bought it several times. Im buying more for her now!

I was looking for an alternative to the house plants my kitty was eating.
The Smartykat Sweetgreens Cat Grass was just the solution!
It took about a week to grow to about 4-5" It was as easy as adding water and poking some breathing holes in the container. The greens grow to be thick and succulent. 
When it was placed in front of our owner she dove into it purring away as she ate it.
She obviously loved it and was craving the nutrients in the greens!
I can see getting several more and having one started ahead of  the one she is using.
You can see in the photo where she ate off of the plants.     Saucer not included.

buy this item often, when i plant the seeds, water it, i put the pot inside of a plastic produce-type bag, blow into it until it balloons up and tie a knot in it.   I leave it alone on the counter top until the grass is about an inch tall.  take it out of the bag and watch how fast it grows to full-height.   sometimes I have to open the bag and blow it up again to make sure the bag doesn't touch the grass.

Good clean treat for my 3 dozen cats, especially the geriatric cats that don't go out or ones that have a stomach-upset.

It took a little longer to grow long enough to give to my cat, once it got started it took about 6-7 days to grow long enough to use and about 2-3 days to begin to sprout.  It definately grew a lot of grass. My cat wanted nothing to do with it, so I was glad I only spent $2.50 on it.

It's fine

Only about 10 seeds sprouted.  Maybe I just had a bad box.  And when the cat tried to eat them the whole plant would come out along with the dirt.  I've had better luck just buying a bag of oat seeds and growing grass on my own. :(
